We are shamelessly enamored with Maddie Ziegler… we and the 100+ million others who have been enchanted by Sia’s Chandelier music video, which features the 11-year- old dancer sporting a bleach-blonde wig and what she describes as “crazy eyes.” Ziegler’s eccentric performance in the viral lm is a far cry from the poised competition dancer presented on guilty pleasure reality show Dance Moms. We gladly admit that at least several dozen of Ziegler’s YouTube counts come courtesy of the Vs. offices.

Ziegler has been a star since she rst took the stage for a dance recital at age two. “I cried when I came off because I wanted to go back on,” she says. Though she has found success doing what she loves, Ziegler does not preoccupy herself with popularity. “I don’t really worry about having a thousand followers (Note: she has 1.5 million). I just do Instagram to look at cool pictures.”

Fans of Ziegler’s often demonstrate their adoration in peculiar ways. “A couple weeks before my birthday, someone gave me a grandfather clock. It was big and it said my name on it. That was kind of weird.” Other admirers take selfies or hug Ziegler without warning. But the precocious star is not immune to fandom herself, admitting she has a crush on none other than Zac Efron. “I fangirl over him,” she laughs.

Here, we nd Maddie channeling Blade Runner as she performs aerials in a dramatic black wig and retro-futuristic setting. The dystopian images are stills from our Vs. short film, coming soon, along with a full interview with Ziegler, to
