Asia is a having a fashion moment—and the next stop? Seoul. This summer, Korea…
The first Monday in May, the perennial date on which the annual Met Gala is held, was yesterday night and as per usual, there was no shortage of red-carpet fanfare and over-the-top fashion moments. This year’s theme, “Manus x Machina: Fashion in the Age of Technology,” focused on the interaction between haute couture and prêt-à-porter and the technological transformation of the world economy over the past few decades. Whether it is a haute couture gown painstakingly assembled by hand or a ready-to-wear dress bought off the rack, fashion’s techniques are inherently intertwined between the human and the machine, often more than we realize. Last night, the ladies and gentlemen of the entertainment and fashion worlds came together to honor that symbiosis and their ensembles did not disappoint.
